Stonehenge

A little over one hour outside of London stands one of the mysteries of modern times. These colossal stones have been here from before recorded history and no one seems to know for sure why they are here or what was their exact purpose. Aligned with the sun, moon, and stars on days of astronomical significance (summer and winter solstice, spring and fall equinox), there are dozens of popular theories as to their use in measuring times for planting and harvest. Perhaps they formed a temple to a god or goddess, perhaps it was simply a tribal meeting area. Either way, they are an awe inspiring sight for all who visit.
