Stonehenge

A little over one hour outside of London stands one of the mysteries of modern times. These colossal stones have been here from before recorded history and no one seems to know for sure why they are here or what was their exact purpose. Aligned with the sun, moon, and stars on days of astronomical significance (summer and winter solstice, spring and fall equinox), there are dozens of popular theories as to their use in measuring times for planting and harvest. Perhaps they formed a temple to a god or goddess, perhaps it was simply a tribal meeting area. Either way, they are an awe inspiring sight for all who visit.

Big Ben

This magnificent clock sits atop the United Kingdom Houses of Power or Parliament. Big Ben is one of London's best known landmarks, and looks most spectacular at night when the clock faces are illuminated (See other images in our catalog). A light shines above the clock face when parliament is in session. The four dials of the clock are 23 feet square, the minute hand is 14 feet long and the figures are each 2 feet high. The name Big Ben actually refers to the thirteen ton bell hung inside the tower.
