Pink Spider Lily          

This pink Spider Lily is from the East side of Maui near the town of Hana. It was growing 100 feet from the single lane road that travels around the Haleakala Volcano.

Prickly Pear Cactus Flower          

This fabulous and bright yellow flower was found alongside a road on Shelter Island in New York. While driving the circle road around the island, I was forced to stop for a turtle crossing the road. I picked up the turtle and carried it off the road and into the shrubbery where I found this gorgeous specimen, catching the powerful rays of the midday sun.

Pale Touch-Me-Not          

This pale Touch-me-not (A.K.A. Jewelweed) has been so named becuase of the sensitive elliptical seed capsule that disperses seeds at the slightest touch. Growing at the Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, Long Island (New York), this specimen captured the eye of the artist due to it's deeper than usual yellow or gold coloration.

Dahlia - Barbarossa          

This gorgeous red Dahlia was growing in the Dahlia planting area of the Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, Long Island. The bright sun and subtle shadows on the opposing petals enhances the coloration of the flower.
