While best known as the Peggy's Cove Lighthouse (Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia) , this light was and remains officially know as the Peggy's Point Lighthouse as its purpose is to mark the point, not the cove. In any case, it was decided to erect a light to mark the eastern entrance to St. Margaret's Bay in 1868 and remains standing and in use today.

Cape Forchu (Yarmouth Nova Scotia), high, rocky, well treed and almost an island itself, has a decidedly different appearance from the surrounding west Nova Scotia coast. It derives it's name from having two narrow, rocky forks that extend to the south. The Cape Forchu light is shown from a red and white vertically striped hexagonal tower, 75 ft high. This view with the sun directly behind the tower, hides the red trim and highlights the squared shape of the tower.

The second of two lighthouses built on Fire Island, this lighthouse was first completed in 1858 and after several jurisdictional changes has been reinstated as an active lighthouse. Flashing once every 7 1/2 seconds, the light from the 1000 watt bulbs is visible from more than 20 miles away.
