Lined up and waiting, this row of small boats highlights the loneliness of the Bar Harbor marina during off-season. Just before the crushing cold of the winter, the lowering temperatures and biting sea wind kept even the adventurous tourists from leaving the warmth and protection of the land.

Goat Island Harbor Sunset          

Goat Island sits at the entrance to Newport Harbor. It is accessible by foot and by car by traveling across the causeway. The lighthouse was first lit in 1842, automated in 1923, and is still operating as an Active Aid to Navigation. The Island and lighthouse are beautiful, especially during a gorgeous sunset. In this setting, even the cloudy sky and its reflection seem appealing.

Sailing is fun but not for those who like to sit back and relax while boat engines do all the work. Anyone who has crewed on a sailboat knows that it can be literally back breaking. Moon over Bass Harbor          

Located on the shore of beautiful Bass Harbor, you can relax and enjoy a great meal at Thurston's Lobster Pound while watching fishing boats unloading the days catch. While enjoying my 2 pound Lobster in the Rough, the moon made it’s appearance over the harbor. By the time I ran to the car to get my camera gear, and by the time I was set up on the tripod, I barely caught the moon before it disappeared behind the trees. The boats and reflections in the still waters completed thisbeautiful photograph.
