Wildlife #1001 - Humpback Whale Breach



 

 

 

Humpback whales exhibit many interesting behaviors including breaching during the mating and calving season which they spend in the shallow waters of the Pacific in the channel between the Hawaiian Islands of Maui and Lanai.

 

 

Wildlife #1010 - Tricolored Heron Face



 

 

 

Formerly called the Louisiana Heron, this colorful shore bird is the most abundant heron in the Southern United States. Notice the variation in feather colors along the back of the neck and the sharp eyes.

This spectacular blue dragonfly was photographed in the Shark Vallet section of Everglades National Park in Florida. Notice the fine detail on the wings.

 

 

Wildlife #1801 - Posing Sea Lion



 

 

 

The Sea Lions that have made Pier 39 of the San Francisco Wharf their home are no strangers to photographers. Dozens of camera troting tourists visit this pier for the sole purpose of getting close to these cute animals. This fella was sitting and posing for anyone who wanted a good picture.
