Notice how the image is wrapped around the stretcher bars at the edge of the image (shown at right by the Red Arrow). When hanging on a wall, the sides look the same as the front making a clean and neat appearance. If you are planning to frame the image, this is not necessary as the frame will cover the sides so you will not see them.
