Reflection in the Arno

The Arno River in central Italy flows generally westward for about 240 km (about 150 mi), from its source on Mount Falterona to the Ligurian Sea. Here, at sunset, it passes through Florence and under the famous Ponte Vecchio. Built in 1345, the current occupants are mostly goldsmith and jewelry shops. Illuminated by the morning sun, the bridge and south bank glow with colors that seem artificial as does the reflection in the river below.
