It was hard to resist this magnificent sunset while driving through Jefferson, New Hampshire. At the Northern border of the White Mountain range, the flaming colors, distant mountain peaks, and clear evening sky were worth the pause to capture this moment.
Located at Canada and Amherst Streets in Lake George Village, this 1845 brick structure became the perfect home for the Lake George Historical Association and its collection of historical artifacts. It also is home to the Lake George Historical Association Museum.
The autumnal colors are evident in this view of Lake George, New York from atop Prospect Mountain. The rich color of the autumn leaves gives warmth to this otherwise cool image of the lake and distant mountains.
Goat Island sits at the entrance to Newport Harbor. It is accessible by foot and by car by traveling across the causeway. The lighthouse (notice the green glow in the right center) was first lit in 1842, automated in 1923, and is still operating as an Active Aid to Navigation. The Island and lighthouse are beautiful, especially during a gorgeous sunset.
The second of two lighthouses built on Fire Island, this lighthouse was first completed in 1858 and after several jurisdictional changes has been reinstated as an active lighthouse. Flashing once every 7 1/2 seconds, the light from the 1000 watt bulbs is visible from more than 20 miles away.
The San Francisco cable car system is the world's last permanently operational manually-operated cable car system, and is an icon of San Francisco, California. These cable cars are the only moving National Historic Landmarks. Cable cars operate on two routes from downtown near Union Square to Fisherman's Wharf, and a third route along California Street. While the cable cars are used to a certain extent by commuters, their low speed, small service area, and premium fares for single rides make them primarily a tourist attraction.
Against the perfectly blue autumn sky, this bare tree is a bell weather of the cold winter freeze ahead. This image is only available as a 12x18 or 24x36.
Near the 72nd street entrance and drive through Central Park in New York City, Bethesda Fountain stands at the center of one of the most famous meeting places in the city and the park. See image #1728 for a look at the entire fountain.
Hawaii, Tahiti, or the Carribbean? Actually, this magnificent sunset was captured behind the Mills Masion in Staatsburg, New York. The trees in the foreground are hiding the view over the Hudson River, approximately 92 miles North of Manhattan. Images 1269 and 1270 are from the same location.
This lighthouse, visible for eighteen miles and with one million candlepower stands at the Jupiter Inlet, formed at the point where the Loxahatchee River flows into the Atlantic Ocean and is the only natural inlet on the East Coast of Florida.
