The Golden Gate Bridge opened to vehicular traffic on May 28, 1937. The bridge's 4,200 foot long main span was a world record for 27 years. The bridge's two towers rise 746 feet making them 191 feet taller than the Washington Monument. The five lane bridge crosses Golden Gate Strait which is about 400 feet deep and connects San Francisco and Marin counties.
Folow a sharp western inlet off the Hudson River about 100 miles North of New York City and you will arrive at the Rondout Harbor serving the upstate New York city of Kingston. These quaint little buildings are part of the historic district of Kingston.
County Bridge was first built in 1852 spanning the Contoocook River between Greenfield and Hancock, New Hampshire. In 1936, a disastous flood damaged the bridge beyond repair. It was rebuilt in 1937 using stronger materials.

This covered bridge is located in Bartlett, New Hampshire and spans the Saco River. It was first built in 1851. In 1966, the bridge and the land around it was sold to a private individual who had a gift and antique shop built inside the bridge. The current owners maintain this gift shop.
Originally built in 1862, the Stark Covered Bridge is located in Stark, New Hampshire. Spanning the Upper Ammonoosuc River, this bridge was torn off it's piers in the 1890's but restored to it's original location by men and oxen.
The Mount Orne Covered Bridge connects Lancaster, New Hampshire with Lunenburg, Vermont. Originally built in 1911 and rehabilitated in 1983, this structure spanning the Connecticut River is still in use today. Reminiscent of times long passed, this truck carries a bale of hay across the river.
Jutting into the night lake, this pier is illuminated by a single lamp near the end. Imagine two lovers, sharing an embrace to ward off the evening chill and enjoying the solitude on this dark night.
This beautiful autumnal scene can be seen from the Blair Bridge in Campton, New Hampshire. Spanning the Pemigewasset River, the fall palette and stunning reflection is evidence of this sunny day in October.
This long covered bridge spans the Pemigewasset River in Campton, New Hampshire. When constructed in 1869, there was a sign posted indicating a five dollar fine for riding or driving on the bridge faster than five miles per hour.
