First built in 1881 for $873, this bridge was given its name because of its close proximity to the local blacksmith shop. It is located in Cornish, New Hampshire and spans Mill Brook. In 1983, it was restored for $30,000.

This steam driven paddle wheel ship is complete with a calliope delighting children and adults with sounds of the past. Unlike many imitations, the paddle wheel visible in this image is actually the propulsion mechanism for this large passenger ship.

Spanning the Swift River, the current bridge was rebuilt from the original materials after the first bridge was washed downstream in 1869. The bridge is closed to vehicular traffic but remains a popular footbridge and historical landmark.
